About me

Hi! My name is Hans Diemer and this is my personal blog “Gamernist”.

What can you expect to find here?

On my blog, you’ll find the following potpourri of topics:

  • private contents like travel reports, thoughts and recommendations
  • videogames and knowledge transfer, especially combined in regards to learning games
  • tips, information and anecdotes about my studies and jobs, primarily: Linguistics, Rhetoric, Public Relations

For whom is this blog?

  • for persons coming from the educational system, especially developers, teachers and other people who are interested in learning games and serious games
  • for those who would like to work in the videogame industry and are looking for tips and insights
  • for people who professionally deal with language and communication
  • and of course for my friends and everyone who knows me

What is the name „Gamernist“ about?

„Gamernist“ is a very creative neologism, because I studied linguistics (in German: “Germanistik”) to work in the gaming industry. So I am a Germanist and a Gamer, thus a Gamernist. Clever, isn’t it?

Who am I?

What a brilliant question! Born in Dresden, Germany, in 1988, I can look back upon a number of experiences – of which the most important shall be listed below:

  • Bachelor’s degree in German and English Linguistics in Dresden
  • Master’s degree in General Rhetoric in Tübingen
  • three years of experience as PR Manager in an agency, mainly for Sony PlayStation as a client in the German-speaking market
  • various side jobs and internships, e.g. as editor, director’s assistant, extra, model, texter, marketing assistant, host, aide in a psychiatry, fashion salesman, English teacher and a few more
  • Interests: travelling, education, acting, videogames, fitness, healthy diet, movies and series, asking the vast question about the meaning of life

In 2021 I quit my job as a PR Manager and started travelling – first on Malta, then through Asia. I worked as an English teacher, as a farmer and freelance content writer. Now I changed my profession and started my new job as Learning Game Designer and Producer / Project Manager, working remotely in a German-Swedish educational company called Wegesrand.

This is me!
